Pamyat

Pamyat the first Russian nationalist movement forming during the 1980’s, in Moscow. The name of the group was taken from an essay by Vladimir Chivilikhin. The group was also formed with the help of the KGB. Originally their purpose was to preserve the Russian culture, through the 80’s they became much more nationalistic, at which point the group broke up in many smaller factions, such as groups Russian National Unity. The group would do marches, occasionally getting into trouble for having their protest be unregistered.

The group faded during the 1990’s with a small reemergence in 2005 in the form of marches, but after the death of Nikolai Skorodumov in 2021, the group ceased to exist.
