From 2000 to 2014 a new group of online trolls would appear known as the Jewish Internet Defense Force or JIDF for short. JIDF was originally founded by a person who went by the name “David Appletree.”
Most of there work involved reporting things that they deemed were antisemitic. These would include mainly face groups or Wikipedia authors who were anti-Israeli. However, they did do a few minor things that were interesting, such as working their way into administrative positions in Facebook groups, only to change them to names like “Mossad Collaborators,” to scare off the community involved.
In 2014 the JIDF website went down, but Israel’s troll work would continue with projects like Hasbara and Act-IL.
