After 911 the war on terror began, which was a series of proxy wars across the middle east. Literally any country the posed any kind of threat to Israel, was attacked or destabilized.

While America was going to bring freedom and democracy to Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, Libya, ect, it ruined everything it touch. Yes, these governments were toppled, but at an expense to American lives, taxpayer money, dead civilians, and ruined countries.

This was just like the same as hearing about how we were rescuing Germany from Hitler or saving Ukraine from Russia.
