In 1995 Israel was granted, by the US, their first imported supper computer. Vanunu stated the reasoning for Israel to obtain this supper computer, was so Israel could still design and develop nuclear weapons, without the need for physical hardware test.

It’s rumored that Israel used these computers to test theoretical designs of thermos nuclear bombs. The goal of this is to utilize a supercomputer to test designs, without the need for a physical test, which could draw a lot of attention.
