In 1948 the country of Burma was formed in southeast Asia. Early on in diplomatic relations, Burma’s first task was to recognize Israel as an ally and set up domestic ties. In 1955 Burma and Israel reached an agreement on trading weapons and training from Israel, in exchange for Rice from Burma. These weapons would later be used in a civil war that split the country.
Later a new country would form, known as Myanmar. In 2017 due to an ongoing genocide, Israel has still supplied weapon, with an estimate of 250 metric tons being smuggled in since 2018. These weapons helped perpetuate the Rohingya genocide.
The Myanmar government was caught using Israeli drones, armored vehicles, and spyware that overthrew democratically elected Suu Kyi. Luckily, we got this cool dance video.
