Mykola Lebed

One of the contacts being made by the Americans for their early operation, was a man by the name of Lebed, who in 1934 Polish minister of interior. This made him a key figure in the Ukrainian liberation movement and OUN. Lebed was sentence to death, but later had his sentence commuted to life in prison.

When Germany invaded Poland, they freed Lebed. Lebed didn’t want to deal with the Soviets when the war ended so he moved to Rome Italy. He was later recruited by the Americans, in 1947, to help run Ukrainian Partisan networks.
